Verena L Rose Biography

Verena Rose is the owner of Writer’s Blood Books. She is a member of the Crime Writers Association (CWA), convenor for the CWA North America Chapter, and member of the Crime Readers Association (CRA). She hosts a podcast, Sunday Tea with V at the Hystery Chronicles, where she interviews authors writing historical fiction and mysteries, as well as true crime and well-known contemporary authors such as Ann Cleeves and Marsali Taylor.
She is the Anthony Award-winning co-editor of Malice Domestic 14: Mystery Most Edible. She is former Chair of Malice Domestic, and is a member of Mystery Writers of America (MWA), Sisters in Crime-National, Sisters in Crime Chesapeake Chapter, the Historical Novel Society, The American Research Center-Egypt, Women’s National Book Association, and the Jane Austen Society of North America.
To date, Verena has only published short stories including “THE DIAMOND CAPER” in MYSTERY MOST INTERNATIONAL (Level Best Books 2024), and “THE CEMETERY CAPER” in SHAMUS & ANTHONY COMMIT CAPERS (Level Best Books 2024). Her most recent story, “HOMICIDIUM,” has been entered in the 2025 Dorothy Dunnett Society contest,
In addition to her love of mystery fiction, Verena is an avid fan of true crime. She is currently working on a true crime manuscript based on a crime that took place in the early 1950s. This crime holds special significance for her as part of the story took place in her hometown where her father was a police officer.
In the podcast which she hosts, Verena asks questions in a conversational manner which often lead to pleasurable tangents, The invitation to conduct podcast interviews with the headliners, panelists, etc. at Shetland Noir is an honor and a privilege that will make her return to Shetland all the more pleasurable.
